Short history

The first Finnish psychoanalyst was Yrjö Kulovesi in the 1920’s. He however did not have any followers and it took until the 1950’s that a new interest in psychoanalysis developed. The first Finnish psychologists and psychiatrists went to Sweden and Switzerland to get their training. IPA accepted the Finnish Psychoanalytic Study Group in 1965 and the first psychoanalysts were trained. Now the group in training is number 33.
