26-27/11/2022 in Rome & online: Geografie della Psicoanalisi – Still life. Ai confini tra il vivere e il morire
SOCIETÀ PSICOANALITICA ITALIANA
From the beginning, the aim of Geographies of Psychoanalysis has been to deepen the comparison between different cultures and to address the problems posed by the transformations of the contemporary world.
The attempt is to draw a map of the psyche based on the interconnections generated by the exchanges and contaminations that have always characterized the history of populations. In the global era, these contaminations have assumed more evident characteristics, sometimes generating dramatic identity conflicts but often also flattening the differences through conformism.
There are various problems and issues to be addressed but the main one, especially in this period marked by the experience of the pandemic and the war, is the theme of Death as a universal experience that crosses every culture, every religion, every social organization, finding its own particular form of expression in each reality and indirectly describing specific psychic structures.
Its meaning changes from culture to culture, from country to country and has always defined, even in recent history, collective rituals, social practices and subjective experiences.
Through the description and analysis of these different realities and in the comparison with different disciplines, Geographies aims to 'put to work' the fundamental conceptualizations of psychoanalysis on the theme of death.
The result should be an Atlas that outlines the different aspects of cultures, mythologies and religions and a map of an Inner Geography that addresses the theme of death as a fundamental problem of the human psyche and as its horizon.
