The Belgian Psychoanalytic Society (BPS) allows each psychoanalyst to ensure their continued education by participating in the collective scientific and social life.

The Belgian Psychoanalytic Society is among the very first national societies to have been founded. It was created in 1946 under the name “Association of Psychoanalysts of Belgium” under the initiative of three people: Maurice Dugautiez, Fernand Lechat et Camille Lechat-Ledoux.

3 years training: clinical situations seminar, courses on psychoanalytic theory, psychic functioning, metapsychology, psychoanalytic technique, psychoanalytic nosography, ethics, Freud readings. Validation of supervision of control of two analytical cures of a minimum duration of 3 years at least 3 times a week and participation in the clinical group in which preliminary interviews and psychotherapy work are discussed. A clinical thesis must be presented to BPS members to acquire membership status.

There are archives in our Society

Several members of our Society are involved in the training of psychoanalytic psychotherapists organised by the Faculty of Psychology of the Catholic University of Leuven. Several members contribute to the training of psychoanalytic therapists, organised by IFISAM for French-speaking colleagues. Several colleagues are attached to the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Université de Liège.
