Generalversammlung

  1. The General Assembly (previously ‘Council’) is composed of the representatives of all Member Societies of the European Psychoanalytical Federation.
  2. The General Assembly is the policy-making body of the Federation as stated in Article 11 of the EPF Articles of Association. It shall meet at least twice a year.
  3. The General Assembly makes policy decisions and initiates and carries out activities of the Federation. Decisions of the General Assembly shall be binding on the Federation.
  4. The General Assembly is the agent of communication between the Federation and the Member Societies.
  5. The General Assembly shall receive and take action on reports and recommendations submitted by the Board of Directors or by individual Directors or by General Assembly members. It shall also consider issues presented by individual members, associate members or candidates of Member Societies or associated Study Groups.
  6. The General Assembly may call for a general postal referendum on important issues. The results are not binding on the General Assembly.
  7. The admission of Societies and associated Study Groups to the Federation shall be determined by the General Assembly in accordance with the procedures laid down in the Internal Regulations.
  8. The General Assembly has the ultimate responsibility for the finances of the Federation. It receives and acts on the Treasurer's reports and recommendations and it establishes the amount of the annual per capita subscription.
  9. The General Assembly shall receive nominations for President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and General Editor and shall proceed to the election of these Officers in accordance with the procedures specified in the Internal Regulations. The President shall appoint the Secretary, subject to the approval of the General Assembly.
  10. If one of the members of the Board of Directors ceases to perform their duties during a financial year, any new appointment shall be provisional and subject to confirmation at the next General Assembly meeting, as stated in Article 18 of the EPF Articles of Association.
  11. The General Assembly has the power to modify the EPF Articles of the Association in accordance with procedures laid down in Article 11.
  12. The General Assembly shall have the power to terminate the membership of a Member Society if, in its opinion, the Member Society fails to abide by the EPF Articles of the Association. Procedures for this action are laid down in Article 7.
  13. The General Assembly is empowered to dissolve the Federation in accordance with procedures laid down in Article 26.
