EPF – Glossary expanded! .. ready for translating psychoanalytic terms
Going to the EPF website epf-eu.org, clicking the button “tools”, you will find the online-version of the EPF Glossary for translating psychoanalytic terms. There - apart from many European languages - you will also find terms like “dive” or “super-ego” translated into Chinese (Mandarin), where “death drive” looks like死本能 .
The Glossary project, chaired by Gabriele Junkers (Bremen) and Eike Wolff (Brussels) is now comprising all terms from Robert Hinshelwoods’ “A Dictionary of Kleinian Thought”; the French edition served as basis, as it contains all the terms in six languages. Thus the option is offered to ask the online - glossary for the translation of up to 150 central terms of Kleinian theory.
More so 450 Freudian terms in German and French were included. Jean Laplanche offered to include this list from the ongoing work of the German – French translation team of the Oevres Complètes (Geammelte Werke). The compilation of these terms was done by François Robert (Paris).
The EPF thanks Robert Hinshelwood, Jean Laplanche and François Robert for offering this precious data for online – publishing within the EPF Glossary. In addition the EPF expresses gratefulness to Gabriele Junkers and Eike Wolff for organizing and monitoring the inclusion of this database into the online Glossary in the EPF website. They will continue their work, as it is their expressed wish to include, apart from the 450 new terms in French and German, other European languages. To organize this, Gabriele Junkers and Eike Wolff will approach the different European Societies and submit proposals, how these translations could be done.
